Backend/Full-Stack Payments Engineer
Location: Brazil
Work Mode: Remote
Employment Type: Full-Time Employee, payroll-based contract with benefits and tax deductions
Contract Duration: 6 months, with strong possibility of extension
About the Role
We are looking for a Payments-focused Backend/Full-Stack Engineer with hands-on experience in PIX and the Brazilian payments ecosystem.
The role will focus on building backend services for PIX payment and receipt flows, per-user BRL account creation and ledger segregation, core PIX features, and integrations with partner and internal APIs.
Requirements
- Hands-on PIX experience is required, particularly building, implementing, extending, or supporting PIX integrations.
- Strong experience in payments, banking, or fintech engineering.
- Experience with payment rails, ledgers, account services, reconciliation, and idempotent/transactional systems.
- Experience integrating third-party banking/PSP APIs, including webhooks, OAuth2, retries, and dedup/replay.
- Backend or Full-Stack experience required. Frontend-only experience is not suitable.
- Go/Golang preferred but not mandatory.
- Familiarity with Temporal and MongoDB is a plus.
- Knowledge of DICT, MED, BR Code/QR standards, titularidade, and BCB regulatory requirements.
- Knowledge of risk/fraud controls and regulatory/compliance-driven development.
- AWS, Kafka, and Kubernetes are beneficial but not critical.
- Professional/communicable English required.
- Portuguese is useful but not mandatory.
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or equivalent practical experience.
Responsibilities
- Design and build backend services for PIX payment and receipt flows.
- Implement per-user BRL account creation, lifecycle, and ledger segregation through PIX indirect participation via BTG.
- Support migration from the legacy omnibus model.
- Develop PIX features including DICT key management, MED/disputes, limits, same-name enforcement, and reconciliation.
- Integrate with partner and internal APIs.
- Collaborate with Payments, Risk, Compliance, and Brazil-based teams through review, testing, and production hardening.
