Company Description
Fostr connects growing businesses with highly skilled freelancers drawn from global talent pools. By working through a trusted network of professionals, Fostr focuses on delivering tailored solutions that match each client’s specific requirements. The company emphasizes trust, reliability, and care in every engagement, ensuring strong long-term relationships between clients and freelancers. Applicants can expect to collaborate with diverse teams and contribute to impactful projects for businesses in various industries.
Role Overview
We are looking for a technically capable, highly driven person to work directly with the founder across several businesses and projects.
The role combines website development, application development, marketing technology, tracking, automation, and AI. This person will actively contribute to Cipher, our custom AI operating system, while also supporting AfterBody Health and other marketing initiatives.
This is not a senior leadership position. We care more about technical aptitude, initiative, learning speed, and execution than years of experience. The right person is ambitious, resourceful, comfortable solving unfamiliar problems, and excited to take on increasing responsibility within a fast-paced team.
Level: Intermediate
Timezone: 9am-5pm EST
Type: Contractor
Rate: USD$15/hour
Role Definition
This person will help turn business ideas and technical requirements into functioning solutions.
Some projects will begin with a clear task. Others may begin with a problem or desired outcome that still needs to be researched and defined. The person must be able to understand the objective, investigate possible solutions, ask focused questions, and drive the work forward without requiring every step to be provided.
They will work inside existing websites, applications, and codebases. They will also help build new features, workflows, integrations, and internal tools.
The role requires someone who can use AI to increase their capabilities but still understands, tests, and verifies the work being produced.
Primary Responsibilities
- Make and deploy changes to existing websites, landing pages, forms, funnels, and customer-facing experiences.
- Work inside custom applications to add features, improve functionality, fix bugs, and improve usability.
- Actively contribute to the continued development of Cipher.
- Build AI workflows, functions, agents, integrations, and product features.
- Connect AI models and tools to existing business systems.
- Implement conversion tracking across websites, landing pages, forms, advertisements, and applications.
- Create custom tracking when standard platform integrations are insufficient.
- Work with pixels, Google Tag Manager, browser events, server events, APIs, webhooks, postbacks, click IDs, URL parameters, and attribution systems.
- Troubleshoot broken tracking and verify that data passes correctly through the entire conversion path.
- Build integrations between websites, applications, databases, marketing platforms, and internal systems.
- Create automations and internal tools that reduce manual work.
- Use GitHub and AI coding tools to understand existing codebases and safely implement changes.
- Test work properly and provide clear evidence that it functions as intended.
- Document completed work, important decisions, setup requirements, and known limitations.
- Identify blockers early and present possible solutions instead of simply reporting that something cannot be completed.
Required Technical Skills
- Practical experience making changes to websites or web applications.
- Ability to read, understand, and modify existing code.
- Working knowledge of JavaScript or TypeScript and/or Python.
- Understanding of front-end and back-end development.
- Experience working with APIs, JSON, webhooks, databases, authentication, and environment variables.
- Familiarity with GitHub, repositories, branches, commits, pull requests, and code reviews.
- Understanding of conversion tracking, analytics, pixels, events, attribution, and tag management.
- Strong ability to troubleshoot technical problems using logs, browser tools, error messages, and systematic testing.
- Experience using AI coding tools such as Claude Code, Codex, Cursor, GitHub Copilot, or similar tools.
- Strong understanding of how modern AI systems work, including large language models, agents, tool use, function calling, structured outputs, prompts, workflows, and failure handling.
- Ability to evaluate and verify AI-generated work rather than accepting it without review.
Useful Experience
Experience with any of the following would be valuable but is not required across every area:
- React, Next.js, Node.js, or similar web frameworks
- MongoDB, PostgreSQL, Supabase, or other databases
- Shopify and Klaviyo
- Google Tag Manager and GA4
- Meta Pixel and Conversions API
- RedTrack, Everflow, Cake, or affiliate tracking systems
- Playwright or browser automation
- Docker, Linux, SSH, cloud hosting, and deployment platforms
- RunPod, ComfyUI, local AI models, or AI image and video workflows
- Paid media, lead generation, affiliate marketing, e-commerce, or conversion funnels
What We Need From This Person
The most important requirement is drive.
We need someone who takes ownership of an assignment and keeps it moving. They should be willing to research unfamiliar problems, learn new tools, attempt solutions, and communicate clearly when a decision or genuine blocker requires input.
They must be:
- Eager to learn and improve quickly
- Resourceful when facing unfamiliar technical problems
- Able to work independently without disappearing or becoming blocked silently
- Interested in both the technical work and the business outcome
- Able to explain technical work in clear, simple language
We are not expecting this person to know everything immediately. We are looking for someone with a strong enough technical foundation to learn quickly, use AI effectively, and grow into a highly capable technical operator across our businesses.
